Overview
How fast is your 4.5G / 5G Mobil connection really?
In Turkey, mobile internet is delivered over the 4.5G and 5G networks of three operators (Turkcell, Vodafone, Türk Telekom). The 5G spectrum tender concluded in 2025 and commercial 5G launched in 2026; coverage is expanding gradually from major cities and industrial zones. Mobile speed varies widely with your location, signal strength, cell congestion and the frequency bands your device supports. Getting very different results in different places on the same plan is therefore normal.
Plans
4.5G / 5G Mobil plans and expected speeds
The values below are the committed speeds of typical retail plans; your real result varies with infrastructure, device and connection type.
| Plan | Download | Upload |
|---|---|---|
| 4.5G (tipik) | 75 Mbps | 15 Mbps |
| 4.5G (güçlü sinyal) | 250 Mbps | 40 Mbps |
| 5G (erken ölçüm) | 600 Mbps | 60 Mbps |

Why it varies
Factors that affect internet speed
Wi-Fi or cable?
On Wi-Fi, signal strength, distance and interference reduce speed. A wired (Ethernet) connection reveals your line's true capacity.
Infrastructure and distance
Fiber speed is distance-independent; VDSL/ADSL drops with distance from the exchange. On mobile, signal and cell congestion dominate.
Device and modem
An old network card, weak CPU or a non-Gigabit modem becomes a bottleneck on high-tier plans.
Simultaneous usage
Downloads, streaming and gaming on other devices share the same line and lower your measured speed.
Peak hours
Evenings (8 PM-midnight) are peak; local node or international link congestion can cause minor drops.
Server distance and latency
The test server's distance affects ping (latency) and jitter. NETMETRİK selects the nearest high-capacity server.
Accurate testing
How to measure your speed correctly
- 1If possible, connect your computer to the modem with an Ethernet cable; Wi-Fi can show a result below the line.
- 2Pause downloads, streaming and updates on other devices so only the test uses the line.
- 3Turn off any VPN/proxy and 'data saver' mode in your browser or operating system.
- 4Close other tabs, press the START button at the top of the page, and avoid other activity until the measurement finishes.
- 5Take several measurements at different times, save them, and compare the average against your plan speed.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about 4.5G / 5G Mobil speed test
How do I run a mobile speed test correctly?
Stand still where the signal is strong, turn Wi-Fi off and test on mobile data only, close apps downloading in the background, and press START. Results taken while moving or in weak signal do not reflect true network performance.
Is 5G available in Turkey?
Yes. Commercial 5G launched in Turkey in 2026 and coverage is spreading from major cities. Early independent tests reported download above 600 Mbps under strong signal; real speed varies widely with location, signal and device. Check your operator's coverage map to see whether 5G is available where you are.
