Privacy Policy

At NETMETRİK we transparently explain how we collect, process and protect your personal data on hiztesti.com and our affiliated platforms.

1. Data Controller

Under Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK), your personal data is processed in the capacity of data controller by the following:

  • Title — NETMETRİK MOBİL VE GENİŞBANT VERİ ANALİZİ HİZMETLERİ
  • Address — Tahtakale Mah. Lilyum Sk. No:3/193 Stüdyo24 Residence, 34325 Avcılar / İstanbul
  • Email — [email protected]

2. Data We Collect

When you start a speed test, we automatically collect the following technical data so our systems can measure your connection quality:

  • Network and Connection Data — Your IP address (IPv4/IPv6), your Internet Service Provider (ISP), Autonomous System Number (ASN), your connection type (Wi-Fi, 4G, 5G).
  • Measurement Data (NQF Metrics) — Download and Upload speeds, latency (Ping), Jitter, Packet Loss, RPM (Responsiveness Per Minute) and bandwidth distribution profiles.
  • Device and Browser Information — Device type, operating system, browser type and version (User-Agent).
  • Location Data — City/region-level geographic location derived from the IP address. GPS data is collected only in mobile apps and with your explicit consent.

3. Account and Membership Data

Our speed test service does not require membership. We process the following data only when you create an optional account to sync your test history across your devices:

  • Identity and Contact — Your email address and (if you entered it optionally) your name.
  • Password — Your password is never stored as plain text; only its irreversibly encrypted (scrypt) hash is kept.
  • Sign in with Google — If you choose to sign in with your Google account, only your account identifier, email address and name are obtained from Google; we can never access your Google password.
  • Verification Codes (OTP) — One-time codes generated for email verification and password reset are kept with their encrypted hash and valid for at most 10 minutes.
  • Session and Transaction Security Data — A secure (HttpOnly) session cookie is placed in your browser to keep your session open; the session record keeps the hash of the session key, IP address, browser information (User-Agent) and last access time for security purposes.

Note — When you create an account, the test history kept on this device up to that point is linked to your account and stored on our servers (privately to you only); this way you can access it from your other devices as well. If you are not a member, your history stays only in your browser (localStorage) and is not sent to the server.

4. Purposes of Data Use

  • To analyze your connection's performance and provide you with instant speed and quality results.
  • To detect problems in internet infrastructures (e.g. Bufferbloat, Wi-Fi bottlenecks).
  • To improve our systems, our algorithms (NQF) and our test server (NetmetrikServer) infrastructure.
  • To produce statistical reports and open data sets (Open Data) about telecommunications and internet quality.
  • To manage your membership if you create an account, keep your session secure and sync your test history across your devices.
  • To verify your email address, fulfill your password reset requests and ensure your account's security.

5. Open Data and Sharing with Third Parties

NETMETRİK has made it its vision to improve internet infrastructure across Turkey and the world. In this scope, the collected test results, stripped of data that could directly identify a person such as the IP address (anonymized), may be used and shared in the following ways:

  • In statistical industry reports (NETMETRİK Insights).
  • With Internet Service Providers (ISPs), regulatory authorities (e.g. BTK) and infrastructure operators for network performance analyses.
  • With academic researchers and the public as open data sets (in CSV format).

Note — Your IP address, which could be directly associated with you, is retained together with the test record for security, fraud/abuse detection and the maintenance and improvement of service quality (legitimate interest under KVKK art. 5/2-f). It is kept only on access-restricted, authorized systems; it is never included in statistical reports or open data sets — those sets are anonymized and/or aggregated before publication.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use your browser's localStorage feature so that you can see your test history (your own results) in the same browser and so that we can remember your preferences (e.g. theme selection).

When you sign in to your account, a mandatory (functional) session cookie (nm_session) is placed to keep your session open. This cookie is secure (HttpOnly, SameSite), required for the service to work, and does not require explicit consent under KVKK art. 5/2. It is deleted when you sign out.

Third-party tracking cookies are not used for the purpose of targeted advertising or profiling.

7. Data Security and Retention Period

Your data is protected on our secure servers; passwords are irreversibly encrypted. Anonymized test metrics may be kept indefinitely for statistical and historical purposes.

  • Account data (email, name, test history) — Kept as long as your account is active; when you delete your account, your associated personal data is deleted.
  • Session records — A session is invalidated after at most 30 days or when you sign out.
  • Verification codes (OTP) — Expire within at most 10 minutes.
  • IP address — Retained together with the test record under legitimate interest (KVKK art. 5/2-f); kept only on access-restricted, authorized systems and never included in open data sets.

8. Your Rights Under KVKK

Under KVKK Article 11, you have the right to learn whether your personal data is being processed, to request information if it is, to learn the purpose of processing, to request correction if it is processed incompletely or incorrectly, and to request its deletion or destruction.

If you have an account, you can delete your test history at any time or request the complete closure of your account; in this case the personal data linked to your account is deleted.

To exercise these rights, you can reach us through the contact section below.
