Overview
How fast is your Türk Telekom connection really?
Türk Telekom has one of the broadest access networks in Turkey and also operates a significant share of the country's fiber, VDSL and ADSL infrastructure as a wholesale provider. Many independent ISPs therefore ride on Türk Telekom's last mile. Your plan may be fiber (FTTH/FTTB), VDSL or ADSL, and your real speed depends on that medium and the distance to the exchange.
Türk Telekom keeps expanding its fiber footprint: nationwide fiber access covers millions of homes and grows year over year. It also says it is investing in next-generation PON technologies (e.g. XGS-PON), laying the groundwork for higher fiber speeds ahead.
The HIZTESTI test opens multiple connections from your browser straight to the nearest high-capacity server and measures download, upload, ping, jitter and bufferbloat with the same methodology as Speedtest. It is the most accurate way to compare your real result against the plan speed you signed up for.
Plans
Türk Telekom plans and expected speeds
The values below are the committed speeds of typical retail plans; your real result varies with infrastructure, device and connection type.
| Plan | Download | Upload |
|---|---|---|
| Fiber 100 | 100 Mbps | 20 Mbps |
| Fiber 200 | 200 Mbps | 20 Mbps |
| Fiber 500 | 500 Mbps | 20 Mbps |
| Fiber 1000 | 1000 Mbps | 50 Mbps |

Why it varies
Factors that affect internet speed
Wi-Fi or cable?
On Wi-Fi, signal strength, distance and interference reduce speed. A wired (Ethernet) connection reveals your line's true capacity.
Infrastructure and distance
Fiber speed is distance-independent; VDSL/ADSL drops with distance from the exchange. On mobile, signal and cell congestion dominate.
Device and modem
An old network card, weak CPU or a non-Gigabit modem becomes a bottleneck on high-tier plans.
Simultaneous usage
Downloads, streaming and gaming on other devices share the same line and lower your measured speed.
Peak hours
Evenings (8 PM-midnight) are peak; local node or international link congestion can cause minor drops.
Server distance and latency
The test server's distance affects ping (latency) and jitter. NETMETRİK selects the nearest high-capacity server.
Accurate testing
How to measure your speed correctly
- 1If possible, connect your computer to the modem with an Ethernet cable; Wi-Fi can show a result below the line.
- 2Pause downloads, streaming and updates on other devices so only the test uses the line.
- 3Turn off any VPN/proxy and 'data saver' mode in your browser or operating system.
- 4Close other tabs, press the START button at the top of the page, and avoid other activity until the measurement finishes.
- 5Take several measurements at different times, save them, and compare the average against your plan speed.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Türk Telekom speed test
Why do I get lower speed than my Türk Telekom plan?
The most common causes are testing over Wi-Fi instead of Ethernet, distance to the exchange (VDSL/ADSL speed drops with distance), an old modem, other devices using the line, and evening peak hours. Connect to the modem with a cable and retest with a single device.
How do I know if I have fiber or VDSL?
With fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) you can subscribe up to 1000 Mbps and speed is independent of distance. With VDSL, speed is usually capped around 100 Mbps and falls with distance from the exchange. Check your contract/plan name to confirm.
Why is my upload speed much lower than download?
Türk Telekom residential plans are asymmetric: even a 1000 Mbps download plan offers around 50 Mbps upload, and lower tiers offer 20 Mbps. This is expected; symmetric upload requires dedicated products.
