Your first test
When the app opens you're on the Speed Test tab. One key starts a measurement.
Start a measurement
Click the start button on screen or press Ctrl+R. On the Speed Test tab, when you aren't typing in a text field, Space or Enter also starts it.
The gauge shows the current speed and latency as the measurement runs. To stop it halfway, press Esc.
Pick the server yourself
To change the server you measure against, press Ctrl+K to open the server list.
Warnings before a measurement
If energy saver is on, memory is low, the processor is busy, a download or upload is running in the background or a VPN is on, the app warns you before measuring. Warnings never block the measurement; what they mean is explained on the "No internet or slow internet" page.
The result
When the measurement finishes, the download, upload and latency result appears on the card. The details show how long your connection keeps you waiting when idle, while downloading and while uploading, its fluency score and how much data the test used. Press Ctrl+Shift+S to share the result.
